Asia Argento is an Italian actor and director of films who came from a large family of both. She's pursued the two professions her own. In 1985 she made her acting debut in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. In 1988, Michele Soavi's The Church was directed by Michele Soavi and she played in the role of Cristina Comencini's Zoo. Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, featured her character in the role of Nanni Moretti's young daughter. Close Friends (1992) by Michele Placido (both writer and director) is where Asia truly began to begin to take off. It helped her move beyond the role of cute girls to more complicated and mature characters. It was a huge success during the Cannes International Film Festival. The Phantom of The Opera is her third film together with her father. Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome were her first two.
